The centerpiece of Hideaway - around which the
community is designed - is its chain of three
scenic lakes -- 148, 80, and 7 acres
in size -- which provide both great natural beauty
and abundant recreational opportunities.
Community docks are available
in four locations for mooring or fishing, and there
are six boat launching sites to
accommodate fishing boats, ski boats, pontoon boats,
sail boats, canoes, and other craft.
An annual Independence Day boat parade features
local boats decked out in holiday colors and themes.
Boat storage areas are also
operated by the Club to provide locations for storage
of watercraft near the lakes.
An active lakes management program ,
guided by a consulting aquatic biologist, helps
insure the health and development of the fish populations
on the lakes, while also protecting water quality
and preventing the growth of nuisance vegetation.
Many lakeside residents also have their own piers
and boat houses, and several lake coves offer great
spots for both swimming and dipping a hook.
A beautiful lakeside beach ,
maintained daily by the Club staff, provides a
great place for sunning, volleyball, picnicking,
and other fun on the sand, and the beach is fronted
by a protected swimming area adjacent the Club's
swimming pool. A refreshment stand is also operated
nearby for residents' convenience.
Flocks of ducks, the occasional bald eagle, and beautiful
sunsets make Hideaway's lakes wonderful places for
enjoying nature and for an enjoyable end-of-the day
picnic or drink on the water.
